Finding out that your child has EA/TEF can be extremely hard. Initially, you feel as if you are the only one going this journey alone. Afterall, it is not like EA/TEF is a widely known and/or publicized birth defect.
If you have just had an initial diagnosis or failed attempt at repair, or if you are not satisifed with the potential repair prognosis, REMEMBER, it is within your right to ask for a second opinion. In most cases, we think that just because our infant is in the hospital that a second opinion is not possible. Rest assured it is.
If you wish to seek a second opinion, simply identify the medcial facility you wish to obtain the second opnion from. Contact them and discuss your child's situation. After speaking with them, if you feel confident in your discussion, ask your current medical team to email all medical xrays and history to the facility you wish to have provide the second opnion.
This page contains links to medical facilities, pediatricians, doctors, GI specialist, etc that fellow EA/TEF parents have submitted, in which they have had a good experience with.
By posting these facilities, it is not representative of BTG that these facilities and/or doctors are the best for your child, but is representative of other EA families who have utilized their services with favorable outcomes for their child.
